Sometimes when researching you find out other aspects of a person’s life before you find out anything about their service and this is the
case here.

Frank Zurla is not on the Original Wall Unit list, but the article states he was a Hackensack High School basketball player before starring for Rutgers University, as is reported. 

Click here to view The Record article dated January 8, 1942, which would have been a few weeks after the attack on Pearl Harbor. I am assuming he was drafted or enlisted shortly after. 

Frank Zurla’s basketball and college careers were most likely put on hold for his service during World War II, although I do not know that for certain at this present time.
